On Tuesday, 6 August 2019, in the evening at 17:40, in Neringos municipality, on the Smiltynė–Nida national road (kilometre 33.90), a Volvo S80 hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. Two people were injured — the 19-year-old driver of the Volvo (hospitalized) and a 19-year-old pedestrian (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 19-year-old driver of the Volvo (less than a year of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. The driver was sober.
