On Saturday, 17 August 2019, in the morning at around 9:00, in Kauno district municipality, Karmėlavos town, on Vilniaus street near No. 36, a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved an Alfa Romeo 159, a Volkswagen Passat and a Skoda Fabia. Four people were injured — the 28-year-old driver of the Skoda (treated as an outpatient), the 37-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (treated as an outpatient), a 64-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen (treated as an outpatient) and a 17-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 22-year-old driver of the Alfa Romeo (3 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He fled the scene. All drivers were sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
