On Saturday, 17 August 2019, in the evening at 22:04, in Panevėžio district municipality, on the Vilnius–Panevėžys (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 131.72), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a BMW 7ER Reihe and a Mercedes-Benz. Two people were injured — a 48-year-old passenger of the Mercedes-Benz (treated as an outpatient) and a 83-year-old passenger of the Mercedes-Benz (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 34-year-old driver of the BMW (12 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
