On Friday, 23 August 2019, at night at 23:42, in Šiauliai, on Vasario 16-osios street, at the junction with Vytauto street, a collision with a moped occurred. The collision involved a Saab 9-5 and a Gilera. Two people were injured — a 14-year-old passenger of the Gilera (treated as an outpatient) and the 15-year-old driver of the Gilera (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 23-year-old driver of the Saab (less than a year of driving experience), who failed to give way when crossing an intersection. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
