On Monday, 7 October 2019, in the morning at 10:31, in Šalčininkų district municipality, on the Vilnius–Lyda main road (kilometre 37), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved an Opel Insignia, a Volkswagen Golf, a Krone SDP27 and a DAF. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 24-year-old driver of the Opel, who failed to keep a safe distance. He was drunk (2.25‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
