On Monday, 16 December 2019, at night at 4:30, in Varėnos district municipality, on the Vilnius–Varėna–Gardinas main road (kilometre 42.45), a Mitsubishi registered in Belarus rolled over. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 38-year-old driver of the Mitsubishi (16 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
