On Monday, 16 December 2019, in the evening at 19:15, in Kaunas, on Raudondvario pl., at the junction with Romainių street, a Volkswagen Tiguan hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. One person was injured — a 72-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 33-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (10 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. He was drunk (1.38‰ blood alcohol). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
