On Thursday, 26 March 2020, in the evening at 18:49, in Klaipėda, on Taikos pr. near No. 21, a BMW Serie 5 hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. One person died — a 78-year-old pedestrian (later died from the injuries). The accident was caused by the 29-year-old driver of the BMW (15 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. He was drunk (1.69‰ blood alcohol). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
