On Tuesday, 26 May 2020, in the afternoon at 16:29, in Plungės district municipality, on the Mažeikiai–Plungė–Tauragė national road, a collision while turning left (U-turning) occurred. The accident was caused by the 79-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (40 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when crossing an intersection. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry.
