On Monday, 6 July 2020, in the evening at 21:30, in Kauno district municipality, Girininkų village, on Knygnešio Petro Varkalos street near No. 35, a BMW 318i hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 23-year-old driver of the BMW, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (0.69‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. At the time of the accident it was twilight, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
