On Saturday, 18 July 2020, in the evening at 20:09, in Vilniaus district municipality, on the Vievis–Maišiagala–Nemenčinė national road (kilometre 10.15), a head-on collision while overtaking occurred. The collision involved a Volvo and a KIA Motors. One person died — a 57-year-old passenger of the Volvo. Six people were injured — the 19-year-old driver of the Volvo (hospitalized), a 35-year-old passenger of the KIA Motors (treated as an outpatient), a 13-year-old passenger of the KIA Motors (hospitalized), the 39-year-old driver of the KIA Motors (hospitalized), a 11-year-old passenger of the KIA Motors (treated as an outpatient) and a 2-year-old passenger of the KIA Motors (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 19-year-old driver of the Volvo (1 year of driving experience), who entered the oncoming traffic lane. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
