On Friday, 17 July 2020, in the evening at around 17:00, in Palanga, on Vytauto street, at the junction with J. Basanavičiaus street, a vehicle hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. One person was injured — a 15-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the driver of a vehicle (less than a year of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry.
