On Saturday, 22 August 2020, in the evening at around 19:00, in Šilalės district municipality, Drobūkščių village, on the Mažeikiai–Plungė–Tauragė national road (kilometre 104.14), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a BMW 530 and a Nissan X-Trail. Five people were injured — the 28-year-old driver of the BMW (treated as an outpatient), a 21-year-old passenger of the BMW (treated as an outpatient), a 20-year-old passenger of the BMW (treated as an outpatient), the 47-year-old driver of the Nissan (treated as an outpatient) and a 22-year-old passenger of the BMW (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 28-year-old driver of the BMW, who failed to keep a safe distance. He was drunk (1.51‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. A 21-year-old passenger of the BMW was drunk (0.77‰). A 20-year-old passenger of the BMW was drunk (0.85‰). At the time of the accident it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
