On Thursday, 3 September 2020, in the afternoon at 13:52, in Mažeikių district municipality, on the Kuršėnai–Mažeikiai national road (kilometre 46.60), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Bodex KIS 3W-A registered in Latvia, a Hyundai, a Scania R 480 registered in Latvia, a Toyota Avensis and a Mercedes-Benz E 200 CDI. Two people died — the 42-year-old driver of the Hyundai and the 35-year-old driver of the Toyota. One person was injured — the 59-year-old driver of the Scania (treated as an outpatient).
