On Tuesday, 15 September 2020, in the afternoon at around 16:00, in Kretingos district municipality, on the Kretinga–Skuodas national road (kilometre 4.22), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Skoda Octavia and a Renault. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 49-year-old driver of the Skoda (10 years of driving experience). He was drunk (2.56‰ blood alcohol) and fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
