On Tuesday, 17 November 2020, in the afternoon at 16:45, in Kauno district municipality, on the Kaunas–Prienai–Alytus national road (kilometre 17.40), a car ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 43-year-old driver of a car, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (2.03‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was twilight, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
