On Sunday, 6 December 2020, in the evening at 18:33, in Šalčininkų district municipality, Jašiūnų town, on Lydos street near No. 40, a Toyota Land Cruiser hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person died — a 50-year-old pedestrian. The accident was caused by the 35-year-old driver of the Toyota, who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. He was drunk (2.26‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. A 50-year-old pedestrian was drunk (2.22‰). According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA).
