On Friday, 15 January 2021, in the evening at 17:06, in Vilnius, on Panerių street, at the junction with Vytenio street, a Subaru hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. One person died — a 67-year-old pedestrian (later died from the injuries). The accident was caused by the 44-year-old driver of the Subaru (less than a year of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. He had no driving licence. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
