On Friday, 15 January 2021, in the evening at around 22:00, in Biržų district municipality, on Gimnazijos street near No. 1, a collision with a stationary vehicle occurred. The collision involved an Opel and a Toyota RAV4. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 29-year-old driver of the Opel, who failed to keep a safe distance. He was drunk (2.60‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, the weather was clear, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 20 km/h.
