On Wednesday, 20 January 2021, in the evening at 22:15, in Plungės district municipality, on the Šiauliai–Palanga main road (kilometre 109.23), a DAF FT XF105.460 registered in Ukraine ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 59-year-old driver of the DAF (37 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, there was freezing rain, it was raining, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
