On Friday, 22 January 2021, in the evening at 17:27, in Alytaus district municipality, on the Valkininkų g s –Daugai–Alytus national road (kilometre 39), a collision while turning left (U-turning) occurred. Three people were injured — a 39-year-old passenger of the Mercedes-Benz (treated as an outpatient), a 36-year-old passenger of the Opel (severely injured, hospitalized, was not wearing a seatbelt) and a 28-year-old passenger of the Mercedes-Benz (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 30-year-old driver of the Opel (11 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when crossing an intersection. Both drivers were sober.
