On Thursday, 18 February 2021, in the afternoon at 16:09, in Vilnius, on Saulėtekio al. near No. 32, a Volvo XC90 hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. One person died — a 62-year-old pedestrian (later died from the injuries). The accident was caused by the 61-year-old driver of the Volvo (24 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. The driver was sober. A 62-year-old pedestrian was drunk (1.20‰). According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA).
