On Wednesday, 24 February 2021, in the morning at around 10:00, in Pasvalio district municipality, on the Joniškis–Žeimelis–Pasvalys national road (kilometre 61.03), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Volkswagen Golf and a Volkswagen Transporter. One person died — the 32-year-old driver of the Volkswagen Golf. Two people were injured — the 52-year-old driver of the Volkswagen Transporter (treated as an outpatient) and a 86-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen Transporter (severely injured, hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 32-year-old driver of the Volkswagen Golf (7 years of driving experience), who entered the oncoming traffic lane. He was drunk (4.11‰ blood alcohol). At the time of the accident there was fog, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
