On Sunday, 2 May 2021, in the evening at 18:20, in Šakių district municipality, on the Šakiai–Plokščiai regional road (kilometre 17), a Peugeot 406 ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 47-year-old driver of the Peugeot (27 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (2.45‰ blood alcohol).
