On Wednesday, 19 May 2021, in the afternoon at 16:17, in Ukmergės district municipality, on the Vilnius–Panevėžys (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 90.70), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Volvo XC70, a Krone SD registered in Latvia and a Volvo FH12 registered in Latvia. Three people died — the 62-year-old driver of the Volvo XC70, a 59-year-old passenger of the Volvo XC70 (later died from the injuries) and a 85-year-old passenger of the Volvo XC70. One person was injured — the 58-year-old driver of the Volvo FH12 (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 62-year-old driver of the Volvo XC70 (24 years of driving experience), who entered the oncoming traffic lane. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
