On Friday, 6 August 2021, in the afternoon at 12:30, in Šakių district municipality, on the Pilviškiai–Šakiai–Jurbarkas national road (kilometre 2.85), a Renault hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person was injured — a 44-year-old pedestrian (severely injured, hospitalized). The accident was caused by a 44-year-old pedestrian, who was crossing the carriageway in a built-up area outside a crossing where there is a median strip. He refused a sobriety test. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
