On Sunday, 8 August 2021, in the evening at 19:27, in Panevėžio district municipality, on the Sidabravas–Birželės–Naujamiestis regional road (kilometre 12.45), a Saab 9-3 ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 32-year-old driver of the Saab (10 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
