On Sunday, 22 August 2021, at night at 4:27, in Mažeikių district municipality, on the Mažeikiai–Laižuva regional road (kilometre 11.20), a BMW 525 rolled over. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 21-year-old driver of the BMW, who violated overtaking rules. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. The 27-year-old driver of an Audi A4 Avant had no driving licence. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA).
