On Thursday, 26 August 2021, in the afternoon at 14:38, in Alytaus district municipality, Venciūnų village, on the Antakalnis–Jieznas–Alytus–Merkinė national road (kilometre 51), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a MAN 35.402, an Opel Zafira, a Mercedes-Benz and a Volvo. Three people were injured — the 65-year-old driver of the Opel (hospitalized), a 55-year-old passenger of the Opel (hospitalized) and the 45-year-old driver of the Volvo (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 64-year-old driver of the MAN (20 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. All drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
