Two Volkswagen cars crash on the Šiauliai–Palanga road
On Sunday, 29 August 2021, in the evening at 20:59, in Šiaulių district municipality, on the Šiauliai–Palanga main road (kilometre 42.50), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Volkswagen Golf and a Volkswagen Golf. One person died — the 20-year-old driver of the Volkswagen Golf (later died from the injuries). Three people were injured — the 23-year-old driver of the Volkswagen Golf (hospitalized, had no driving licence), a 28-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen Golf (hospitalized) and a 16-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen Golf (hospitalized). Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
