On Saturday, 23 October 2021, at night at around 2:00, in Utenos district municipality, on the Vilnius–Utena main road (kilometre 93), a BMW 320D ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 30-year-old driver of the BMW (12 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
