On Thursday, 2 December 2021, at night at 1:50, in Varėnos district municipality, on the Vilnius–Varėna–Gardinas main road (kilometre 73.99), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved an Audi A6 Avant and a Renault Clio. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 33-year-old driver of the Audi (5 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.62‰ blood alcohol) and fled the scene.
