On Sunday, 19 December 2021, in the evening at around 17:00, in Biržų district municipality, on Kęstučio street, at the junction with Vytauto street, a truck hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 53-year-old driver of a truck (35 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
