On Saturday, 19 February 2022, in the evening at around 19:00, in Šilutės district municipality, on Smėlyno street near No. 4, a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Seat Toledo and a BMW. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 15-year-old driver of the Seat, who failed to keep a safe distance. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
