On Friday, 22 April 2022, in the morning at 5:25, in Marijampolės municipality, on the Kaunas–Marijampolė–Suvalkai main road (kilometre 72.94), a collision with a stationary vehicle occurred. The collision involved a Ford, a Peugeot 308 registered in Ukraine, a car and a Mercedes-Benz 2646. Four people were injured — a 36-year-old passenger of a car (treated as an outpatient, was not wearing a seatbelt), a 31-year-old pedestrian (hospitalized), a 64-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient) and an 35-year-old other (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 71-year-old driver of the Ford (25 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. Both drivers were sober.
