On Sunday, 24 April 2022, in the afternoon at 11:13, in Šiauliai, on Trakų street near No. 36, an Audi A4 Avant hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. One person died — a 89-year-old pedestrian. The accident was caused by the 35-year-old driver of the Audi, who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. He was drunk (1.73‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. At the time of the accident it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
