On Thursday, 26 May 2022, in the morning at 10:30, in Šiaulių district municipality, Paitaičių village, on Aplinkkelio street, a side collision with neither vehicle turning occurred. The collision involved a BMW 318, a MAN and a Schmitz S.CS 24-13.62. Three people were injured — the 86-year-old driver of the BMW (hospitalized), a 83-year-old passenger of the BMW (hospitalized) and a 77-year-old passenger of the BMW (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 86-year-old driver of the BMW (27 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when crossing an intersection. Both drivers were sober. A 77-year-old passenger of the BMW was drunk. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
