On Saturday, 28 May 2022, at night at 3:34, in Šiaulių district municipality, on the Šiauliai–Palanga main road (kilometre 4.36), a BMW hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 29-year-old driver of the BMW, who failed to choose a safe speed. She was drunk (1.63‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
