On Friday, 3 June 2022, in the evening at 20:23, in Kelmės district municipality, on the Tytuvėnai–Pakapė–Šiauliai regional road (kilometre 4.96), a side collision with neither vehicle turning occurred. The collision involved a BMW 520D and an Opel Astra. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 50-year-old driver of the BMW, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (2.53‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
