On Wednesday, 10 August 2022, at night at 0:47, in Kalvarijos municipality, on the Kaunas–Marijampolė–Suvalkai main road (kilometre 87), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved an Audi and a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter registered in Latvia. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 36-year-old driver of the Audi (5 years of driving experience), who entered the oncoming traffic lane. He evaded sobriety testing, had no driving licence and fled the scene. A 33-year-old passenger of the Audi was drunk (1.35‰).
