On Thursday, 11 August 2022, in the evening at around 18:00, in Palanga, on Kopų street, at the junction with Topolių street, a collision while turning left (U-turning) occurred. The collision involved a Citroen Berlingo and a e-scooter. One person was injured — the 13-year-old driver of a e-scooter (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 74-year-old driver of the Citroen (24 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when crossing an intersection. He fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 30 km/h.
