On Thursday, 6 October 2022, in the afternoon at around 13:00, in Pagėgių municipality, Žukų village, on the Kaunas–Jurbarkas–Šilutė–Klaipėda national road (kilometre 122), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved an Audi A5 registered in Great Britain and a Skoda Octavia. Five people were injured — the 30-year-old driver of the Audi (treated as an outpatient), a 49-year-old passenger of the Audi (severely injured, hospitalized), a 47-year-old passenger of the Skoda (treated as an outpatient), a 36-year-old passenger of the Audi (hospitalized) and the 46-year-old driver of the Skoda (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 30-year-old driver of the Audi (11 years of driving experience), who entered the oncoming traffic lane. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
