On Saturday, 22 October 2022, in the evening at 19:10, in Lazdijų district municipality, Buteliūnų village, on Ežero street near No. 3, a BMW ran off the road. Two people were injured — the 37-year-old driver of the BMW (hospitalized) and a 65-year-old passenger of the BMW (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 37-year-old driver of the BMW (19 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (2.80‰ blood alcohol). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
