On Saturday, 12 November 2022, in the afternoon at 13:32, in Kalvarijos municipality, Staviškių village, on the Marijampolė–Kalvarija national road (kilometre 13), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Volkswagen Caddy, a John Deere 6230 Premium, a Laumetris PTL-24, a BMW and a Toyota Avensis. Two people were injured — the 50-year-old driver of the Toyota (hospitalized) and the 27-year-old driver of the BMW (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 48-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (15 years of driving experience), who violated overtaking rules. All drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
