On Tuesday, 20 December 2022, in the afternoon at 13:59, in Klaipėdos district municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 304.50), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Scania R 480, a Kaessbohrer Variotrans, a Schmitz and a Volvo FL registered in Latvia. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 56-year-old driver of the Scania (20 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. He was drunk (2.56‰ blood alcohol). According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
