On Saturday, 24 December 2022, in the afternoon at 13:35, in Tauragės district municipality, Paverkalnio village, on the Ryga–Šiauliai–Tauragė–Kaliningradas main road (kilometre 120.87), a collision while turning left (U-turning) occurred. The accident was caused by the 52-year-old driver of the Renault, who failed to give way when changing direction. He was drunk (2.25‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence.
