Mitsubishi Outlander and two other cars crash on the Naujieji Valkininkai–Daugai–Alytus road
On Friday, 30 December 2022, in the afternoon at 16:25, in Alytaus district municipality, Švobiškių village, on Vilniaus street, a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Mitsubishi Outlander, a Škoda Octavia and a Kia Rio. Three people were injured — the 54-year-old driver of the Mitsubishi (hospitalized), the 25-year-old driver of the Kia (hospitalized) and a 27-year-old passenger of the Kia (severely injured, hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 54-year-old driver of the Mitsubishi (19 years of driving experience), who entered the oncoming traffic lane. All drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was twilight, there was freezing rain, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
