On Monday, 23 January 2023, at night at 4:30, in Akmenės district municipality, on Nepriklausomybės al. near No. 20, a Renault Modus hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 38-year-old driver of the Renault, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.20‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene.
