On Friday, 24 February 2023, in the evening at 19:30, in Panevėžio district municipality, on the Daugpilis–Rokiškis–Panevėžys national road (kilometre 103.14), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a car, a Honda Civic and a Fiat Punto. Two people died — a 39-year-old passenger of the Fiat and a 3-year-old passenger of the Fiat. Two people were injured — the 26-year-old driver of the Fiat (severely injured, hospitalized) and the 50-year-old driver of the Honda (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 60-year-old driver of a car (28 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. He was drunk (1.05‰ blood alcohol). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, there was fog, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
