On Sunday, 23 April 2023, in the evening at 19:57, in Panevėžio district municipality, Velžio village, on the Anykščiai–Troškūnai–Panevėžys national road (kilometre 51.44), a Yamaha XJ 900 hit an obstacle. One person was injured — the 32-year-old driver of the Yamaha (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 32-year-old driver of the Yamaha (1 year of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.43‰ blood alcohol) and fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry.
